Rhône
The Northern and Southern Rhone are two distinctly different
regions in terms of soil, topography, climate and people. The north
has a more, well, northern feel about it. The finest,
resulting wines have a certain purity, restraint, minerality and
freshness about them, which one would recognise more in Burgundy
than, say, the Languedoc. In contrast, the Southern Rhone is
Provencal, with summers of baked, parched
garrigue, lavender, thyme, olives, and rich, generous,
hearty, hedonistic wines.
What unites the two regions, for us, is the skill, passion,
commitment and generosity of spirit shown by the producers with
whom we work and the fantastic variety and quality of the wines
they produce.
