Chianti Corzano & Paterno

Aljoscha Goldschmidt's young cousin, Arianna Gelpke, has completed her oenology training and is now his full-time assistant. The next generation prepares for the future, and the adventure that began in 1973, when Arianna's father Wendelin bought the Corzano and Paterno valley, continues. The vines grow on the Corzano slope, and 600 Sardinian ewes graze on the Paterno hillside opposite, in the shadow of the 1000-year-old tower that is home to Wendelin's widow, Susan.

The dairy has been moved next to the cellars, so now the estate's dual function as wine and cheese producer can be more easily and efficiently effected. Our only regret is that the six different - but all equally delicious- sheep's cheeses sell out so quickly in Tuscany that there is none left for export.
