We have at last found a Picpoul de Pinet that we all like. The Domaine des Peyrilles will be introduced at our Spring Tasting on 27th March 2012, but we will have the wine in stock around 15th February. From a tasting at the domaine: "Their 2011 Picpoul, which has 2% Muscat in the blend, was brilliant mid-straw. The nose was lovely and fresh, and there were hints of plump ripe apricots and pears both on the nose and en bouche. Lovely acidity on the finish." Samples available on request.

Filippone (IGT - Indicazione Geografica Tipica) is a blend of 50% Prugnolo gentile (Sangiovese grosso) and 50% Merlot, aged in oak barrels for 16 months, followed by a refining period of at least 6 months in bottle.

Bernard latour, passionate winemaker from Domaine de l'Espigouette in the Southern Rhone, has just shared with us his impressions regarding the 2010 vintage. "Les vendanges pour le COTES DU RHONE se sont déroulées du 13 au 22 septembre. Les rendements moyens ont été de 38 hl/ha. La durée de cuvaison a été entre 8 et 15 jours avec contrôle de température et remontage journalier. Assemblage des cépages à la cuve pendant la fermentation.

A la dégustation, belle robe rubis sombre. Les reflets sont violacés, le vin est limpide. Au premier nez les arômes de fruits rouges et noirs s'imposent avec la mûre sauvage comme fer de lance de la palette des arômes de cannelle, de laurier, de ...
